De Íshestar-stallen liggen op 15 minuten van Reykjavik in Hafnarfjörður, een klein stadje te midden van betoverend landschap en prachtige natuur. Vriendelijk personeel en fantastische paarden staan op u wachten. Meertalige gidsen helpen u bij elke stap, van het uitkiezen van de helmen tot het laten zien hoe u uw paard in de unieke draf 'tölt' krijgt. Bij aankomst bekijkt u een instructievideo over het rijden op IJslanders om te leren hoe u stopt, draait en rijdt met uw paard. Het maximale aantal gasten voor deze tour is 20 personen. U kunt kiezen uit een rit voor beginnende, gemiddelde of ervaren ruiters. Geen zorgen als u niet zeker weet welke moeilijkheidsgraad u moet kiezen. De tour begint in één groep, zodat uw gids de ervaring en niveaus van iedereen kan beoordelen. De groep splitst op na het bepalen van de rijvaardigheid. U kunt ook uw voorkeuren doorgeven, zoals sneller of langzamer rijden.

The stables and inside were very clean and cute, overall good experience! It was my first time riding and we all had fun. They carefully explained everything, showed us what to do and how, we’re helpful throughout riding; there were two instructors with us one in the front of the line and one in the back. We rode for about 1.5 hrs thru a lava field and small mountain mainly slow but sometimes sped up which was fun! Only come we’re that we didn’t really see much other than the lava field I expected a more scenic route, we only had about 10 mins after to change and drink coffee before the bus came so it felt a little rushed but overall great experience :)

I have read about the uniqueness of the Icelandic horses and this was the perfect opportunity to experience it. The bus was clean and comfortable. It picked me up at my hotel and took us to the stables. We were given the appropriate head covering and a safety video on how to treat the horse and what to expect, nice touch. The trainers were very knowledgeable and professionals with a big welcoming smile. They put us at tease and were constantly checking on us and helping maneuver the horses appropriately. I was a beginner and felt very comfortable with my horse and the security of the ride and trainers. The views were spectacular and the pace appropriately. Overall a great tour and experience which I highly recommend

This was a unique way to get into nature. They took great care to match us all with a horse whose personality suited our riding style. I haven’t ridden regularly in years, so I was hesitant to pick the “fast” group over the slower group. I ended up choosing the fast group and was very happy with it all. We would trot/tölt for a minute or two then walk for 5 and repeat the cycle so it wasn’t too intense. With only 3 of us in the trotting group it was also a very peaceful experience.

Awesome experience. And I must say that all the people who works are fantastic! I was so nervous for me and for my 8 year old son at first but they made sure to keep us all feel safe. And so our family had a wonderful time. Thank you for assisting and taking care of my son.

It was a great day trip for anybody that like the scenery. I took the slower trail tour. Wasn't too expensive either
