De indrukwekkende Opéra Garnier is het belangrijkste operagebouw in Parijs en een van de grootste in Europa met bijna 2000 zitplaatsen. Het operagebouw heet officieel Palais Garnier uit waardering voor de luxe pracht en gedetailleerde inrichting en is een waar genot om doorheen te lopen, met overal om u heen chique kamers.

Ontmoet uw gids binnen in de Opéra Garnier voor uw 1,5 uur durende wandeling door dit prachtige gebouw in de neobarokstijl. Als u door de weelderige Rotonde voor leden van het operagenootschap loopt, ziet u de zeer gedetailleerde mozaïeken op de vloer en glamoureuze wandlichten die de gasten van het operahuis in vroeger tijden betoverden.

Loop verder naar de grootste marmeren trap, omgeven met indrukwekkende bronzen standbeelden in de vorm van Griekse goden, zoals de godin Pythia. Tijdens de wandeling wijst uw gids u op de opvallendste monumenten terwijl hij over de intrigerende geschiedenis van het operagebouw vertelt. Kom te weten welke wereldberoemde opera's hier zijn uitgevoerd, zoals La Traviata, en hoor hoe het gebouw de inspiratie vormde voor Gaston Leroux' boek en Andrew Lloyd Webbers musical The Phantom of the Opera.

Bij binnenkomst in het enorme auditorium zult u versteld staan van de zeeën aan rode pluchen stoelen, albasten cherubijnen en bladgouden versieringen op de balkons. Het podium wordt omgeven door een prachtige kroonluchter die over alle activiteiten in het auditorium schittert.

Bezichtig de lounges en de Grand Foyer, waar het publiek zich onderhoudt tijdens de pauze, en bewonder de rijk gedecoreerde mozaïektegels, schilderijen en spiegels die op de galerij van een klassiek Frans kasteel moesten lijken. Uw tour eindigt normaal gesproken hier, maar indien u dat wilt kunt u dit gebouw zelf verder verkennen.

U kunt ook kiezen voor een tour na sluitingstijd om het spectaculaire theater in alle rust te bezichtigen. U bezoekt dezelfde ruimtes als tijdens de tour bij openingstijden, maar dan alleen met uw groep, waardoor de entourage nog imposanter wordt!

What can one say - Opera Garnier is just mind blowing. The sheer majesty of the building justifies its former reputation as THE place to be seen. The informative guide takes you through the building explaining the design and history and how it weaves into the story of the Phantom of the Opera. The interior as well as the exterior of this building is a sight to behold - a lifetime memory.

A guided tour was the ONLY way I would suggest visiting this beautiful building, full of historic details and stories. Our tour guide was fabulous, articulate and fun ! I would definitely suggest this tour.

Our tour guide, Emmanuelle, was great and very knowledgeable. It was interesting to learn the about the history of the building and its art, and even a bit about the legend of the Phantom himself. Unfortunately, the auditorium was closed for most of the day and it would have been nice to know that before booking the tour. We were able to see in after we waited for about 45 mins after the tour, because the performers had a lunch break.

I'm so glad we booked this tour of the Opera House. It was very crowded, but we had no problem getting in. This is an amazingly beautiful building, and we all thought it was the nicest building in Paris. We got to go in to the opera hall and sit in the seats, which is something you can't do if you're not on a tour. The Marc Chagall ceiling is stunning to sit under, and the origin of the Phantom of the Opera was interesting to hear. We highly recommend this tour!

I would've rated it lower, but the Opera is just so magnificent. And our tour guide, Rita, was amazing and very knowledgeable, but the way you need to line up and then go in various groups by a designated letter, is very disorganized. Our group already began after we got in. The line is VERY long, and you should arrive VERY early. And we were in the wrong line as our tour began at 11AM. She already started the tour. Luckily we spotted her and caught up. But she had to wait and get a headset that was working as one of ours wasn't. And later the two other women I was with said their headsets were picking up another language and one only worked intermittently. So it was a frustrating experience, but the place itself is breathtaking. I hope they can work out the kinks and make it pleasurable for everyone.
