I had a great time on this tour, I just kind of wish it lasted longer than 2 days. There are so many great attractions that it is nearly impossible to cover it all in 2 days. My strategy for it was to cover everything I could that wouldn’t easily be reachable via the Mètro. The tour guides were knowledgeable and friendly (and speak both French and English). I definitely recommend this tour, although you should definitely bring several bottles of water with you (it gets hot with all of the walking to reach the attractions). The only change I’d recommend is I wish that they would remove the film from the bus windows so that you could take pictures of attractions from the bus (the film has holes in it, but it doesn’t really work well for cameras). I feel like the price I paid for the tour was also very fair for the value (2 days of transportation). You should also be aware that this tour does not take you to the Parc Olympique (Olympic Park) or the Jardin Botanique (Botanical garden). This wasn’t a problem for me because my Airbnb was close to here, so I was able to visit these anyway. They are also close to a Mètro stop (Pie-IX).
I had my sister and brother in law down for a visit and decided to try the hop on hop off. We loved the experience and the guides were bilingual and friendly.they changed the route a couple of times but that was okay beca7se y9u were able to see different areas. Would recommend this tour to anyone who doesn’t want to drive downtown montreal and try to find and pay for parking!
The tour offers a leisurely tour of Montreal. It stops at all the major attractions and we could get off and walk around and get on the next bus. One disappointment is some people tried to cut in lines to re-board.
Excellent and clear explanations of sights. Very inclusive route. Convenient stops. Accommodating diver/guide.
I had been onboard Hop-On, Hop-Off buses in many cities in North America and Europe, and decided that the best way to beat the heat was to explore my own city at the top of a double-decker. I’m so glad I did! Departures were remarkably efficient, there was very little waiting around, and I saw tons of gorgeous local landmarks and natural beauty. Thank you so much for a wonderful day of touring
Great value for this hop-on guided tour. Never had to wait long for a bus or double decker. Only suggestion I would have is to mark all of the pick-up and drop-off points.
We purchased the standard ticket, which is valid for two consecutive days. On the first day, we had trouble finding the pick-up spot. It should be more clear on the tickets where the pickup points are. The rest of the trip that day was good and tour guides were funny and informative. The next day we tried to get the bug from Mont Royal. The bus was supposed to arrive every 15 mins. We waited over an hour -- no buses arrived. I called the main office and they said that the bus should be arriving in 5 mins. We waited another 15 minutes and still no bus. We ended up taking an Uber. Very disappointed that we could not use the bus the second day at all. I do not recommend this bus until they fix the scheduling issues that everyone complains about. Unfortunately, they are the only hop on hop off option.
We loved the tour guides and the information they gave it also gave you a good tour of the city. Our only minor complaint is it was extremely hot the day of the tour a d the busses are older with no air conditioning.
On this Grayline tour, we were able to experience 3 different tour guides. One spoke only in English, was easy to understand, but kidded around a lot rather than explaining. One spoke in English and French, but in order to get both languages completed, she spoke so fast, you could not understand either language. One, who was French, spoke only English, and did very well, but was still difficult to understand. You Need to have recorded audio with a variety of languages.
No clearly marked bus stops anywhere. Never saw one trolly called to find out and it only has 10.stops. not worth it.
Frederick was extremely informative and provided excellent descriptions with just the right amount of emphasis and humor. On the second day tour guide Ronnie was hampered by poor weather and the bike race, but quality of information was not as well presented as that done by Frederick.
Pros: knowledgeable and entertaining guides, reasonably complete routes Cons: current hours (10-4 on 5/1) don't provide sufficient time to explore; online PDF route map is out of date and doesn't display route stops, so we had a lot of trouble finding a place to board after buying online tix; some HO-HO operations in other cities (e.g., Vancouver, BC) provide interactive maps with real-time bus location tracking.
it should be offered in many languages with headphones, like in quebec city. this way we can understand it more and have more information related to us.
Excellent tour , if u have limited time ,this is one tour u will love to take with ur family .
We spent about a half hour looking for a pick up station, but once on... we went all over the city! Our guide was great to listen to, but jokes got old after the second or third go roun.Overal, a good time was had by my wife an I for over three hour!
Our tour guide could barely speak French or English this was a huge waste of time and money. Buy a 3-day Metro Pass for 19 CA and really see the city! Don't hop on hop right on off, and take the metro. Seriously! -Lou and Cathy
Nice sampling of the different options and parts of Montreal.
The guides were very good overall and we learned a great deal about the city. Highly recommend for visitors.
