U ontmoet uw lokale gids bij de Biblioteca Ambrosiana (Pinacoteca Ambrosiana) in het centrum van Milaan. U ontvangt een headset om het commentaar goed te kunnen verstaan en vervolgens gaat u naar binnen om de Atlantic Codex te bezichtigen, de grootste collectie tekeningen van Leonardo da Vinci ter wereld. Volg uw gids door de tijdelijke tentoonstelling en ontdek hoe deze ingebonden set van 12 volumes vol met wetenschappelijke tekeningen en notities, samengesteld tussen 1478 en 1519, in spiegelschrift is geschreven — van rechts naar links en van achteren naar voren.

Nadat u de Atlantic Codex hebt bewonderd, kunt u genieten van een ontspannen wandeling door het stadscentrum naar de kerk Santa Maria delle Grazie. U krijgt een rondleiding door de kerk en het dominicanenklooster (die op de Werelderfgoedlijst van UNESCO staan) en daarna kunt u op het plein voor de kerk bijtanken met een drankje en een lichte snack (op eigen kosten).

Wandel vervolgens samen met uw gids naar de refter van het klooster waar Het laatste avondmaal te zien is. Vermijd de drukte en sla met uw ticket de wachtrij over. Ga de intieme ruimte binnen met uw gids — er wordt slechts één groep per keer bij het schilderij binnengelaten. Bewonder deze wereldberoemde muurschildering die het moment weergeeft waarop Jezus aankondigt dat één van zijn 12 apostelen hem zal verraden. Geniet van de exquise kleuren en details en leer alles over de nauwkeurige renovatie die 21 jaar duurde en die recentelijk is uitgevoerd.

Als uw bezoek is afgelopen (iedereen wordt maximaal 15 minuten toegelaten in de ruimte met speciale temperatuur), gaat u naar de souvenirwinkel waar de dagtrip eindigt. Hier kunt u van de gelegenheid gebruikmaken om souvenirs voor uzelf, uw vrienden of familie te kopen. Ook kunt u uw gids de weg vragen naar andere plekken die u nog wilt bezoeken.

The walking tour started in the Pinacoteca Ambrosiana with a portrait of a musician followed to the Dominican monastery with the world famous Last Supper wall painting, both by great Leonardo da Vinci. The three hours were well spent on painting masterpieces and on the history of Milan since its Roman beginning. Our guide David made our walk memorable thanks to his passionate love of Milan and knowledge of its history. He managed to show us interesting buildings of very different age and style and trace the changes in the city over centuries. His comments to the museum paintings were helpful snd informative too.

Excellent guide who showed us many DaVinci treasures at Ambrosia, the oldest public library in Milan, before taking us to the Last Supper. The group was very international and she managed to find something to connect with everyone. It was a public holiday in Milan so the city was unusually quiet. The guide took us to back streets and public squares which we wouldn’t have otherwise seen.

We were very fortunate to get this viewing as all slots were nearly full and extremely difficult to book online . Only groups of 20 or something allowed at a time and only for 15 minutes ......in a hermetically sealed room !!

Guide was knowledgeable and presented the information well (her accent made her a bit difficult to understand at times). The tour content was so-so. There were long periods of walking with no talking. Also, the suggestion/request for donations at the church we stopped at was not well received.

We purchased these tickets because we could not get tickets to see the Last Supper on our own. The Atlantic Codex sounded ok, but we were just kind of going with it. At the start of the tour, Fedra promised that we would be so happy to have seen the artifacts inside the Pinacoteca Ambrosiano, and she was right. Seeing the original sketch for Rafael's "School of Athens" and learning how a fresco is transferred to the plaster was fascinating, as was having the opportunity to view original sketches done by Leonardo. Fedra was bubbly, knowledgeable, and tons of fun. The ridiculous heat had no effect on her good spirits. Bravo!

The descriptios of the pieces we saw were really vague and really repetitive. She would change the idea of what she was saying halfway through the phrase which maked it hard to follow.

The best part of my Milan trip is seeing the Last Supper painting and learning a lot of information from our tour guide. You can go on your own to the Last Supper but you'll miss out on the information shared by the tour guide.
