I enjoyed this tour, our journalist girl made it fun and authentic. Friendly people and great experience. Thanks!
Excellent tour, Raj was great visited lots of different venues, tasting some great food, some of which you wouldn't think of tasting normally but it was all really good.
This was wonderful
I like food. If it can be eaten, I will attempt it. I went into this tour simply hoping for some good food and had a plan to backstop it with room service at my hotel if necessary. Surprise! Not only was there a substantial amount of food, so much so that my guide Mukta and I could not finish it all, but it was top-rate. On top of it,. if you are lucky enough and do this on a weekday evening it is highly likely that your tour will be private. I had pleasure of passing a lovely evening in conversation and food. Two special things for someone who often travels on business. I highly recommend this tour.
I had booked a tour of the Borough Market and London Bridge for my first trip to London. I was informed via email that the tour was canceled due to the tragic events that had occurred on the bridge. The company, especially, AJ, was very professional in making the change and I appreciated their efforts. The Indian food tour was offered as an alternative. Loving Indian food and knowing that London had a reputation for the best Indian food, I took them up on their offer. We met Shay in front of the Whitechapel gallery. We had a very small group. There was a British couple, my sister, Shay, and myself. Having done other food tours I was hoping that Shay could provide recommendations for a place to have dinner after the tour. OMG!!!! Bring your appetite. On our first stop, we had a full meal. We had lamb chops, paneer, a salad, chili mongo, and naan, Holy cow! Everything was amazing. We even got to watch our naan being prepared. Shay is absolutely the most charming tour guide. I don't think the experience would have been as great if it wasn't for his conversation and intuition. He is a lovely person! Our food was amazing and the company was great. We then walked around Brick Lane, where Shay offered a lot of information about the area and we visited a local market. Lots of interesting foods in the market but the spice aisle was amazing. We then visited a take out restaurant where we sampled Pea and Lentil Kachori and Dhokra yellow spongy item served with a taramind sauce. Both of these were delights! We next went to a bakery where we picked up dessert for dinner!!! Holy cow! We were going to have dinner? Next we went to a lovely restaurant where we were served Puree Kebab Wrap with salad, mint and mango sauces served with a wedge of lemonSaag Chicken, Lamb Pathia, Daal served with plain naan and rice. Here Shay provided everyone with either beer or wine. The curries were amazing but my favorite was the lamb pathia, it was just the right amount of spice! We were then served our treats from the bakery Chocolate and Pistachio Barfi, Gajar Halva and Coconut Delight. All of them were delicious but we all were stuffed and there still food and drinks left over. We did not do justice to our delicious desserts. This was such an enjoyable food tour but for me it was Shay that made this the best experience I could have hoped for. What a joy and a treat!!!!!
