In Nafplio our guide will be happy to provide a brief walking tour pointing out many of the historical aspects along the way, & if you wish to explore the castle itself but prefer not to climb the 999 steps to its entrance, we will also transfer you by vehicle. After lunch we continue for several hours to reach the village of Olympia with ample time to enjoy a relaxing evening.

After breakfast the following day sees a short drive to explore the archeological site of Ancient Olympia. Founded in the 8th century B.C. and famous as for its Olympic games of antiquity you see its extensive ruins which include the places where the original athletes were taught & trained and go through the tunnel to emerge in the stadium in which they competed. The site is still home to the Temple of Zeus and Hera where the Olympic Flame is lit, workshop of Phidias, in its modern museum displays significant masterpieces from the site.
