Over deze activiteit
Your guide and driver await you in your hotel lobby for a day going back in time. We schedule to leave your address in Bangkok at 8am.
Bangkok’s former city center used to be around the Grand Palace, further north of where it is now located. During the reign of King Rama IV, new roads were constructed to ease traffic and these were not too far away from the Chao Phraya River. Our morning will include along 3 of these main roads: Charoen Krung (also called New Road), Bam Rung Muang and Fueng Nakorn. Your guide will give you a brief on the history and the first establishments of local business while you get sufficient opportunities to take photos.
We continue to make a stop at Wat Saket (or Golden Mountain), towering high above Ratanakosin Island – an area that still bears lots of memorabilia of the former glory of the Ancient Kingdom of Siam. A great panoramic view awaits you when climbing to the top.
We continue by local transport to an original Khmer community at Baan Bat; once a thriving part of Bangkok, it has remained its charm and is now considered one of the leading communities that lives of the creation of Baat Making (alms bowl making for monks). Within walking distance, the Wat Suthat and the Giang Swing are among relics that simply cannot be skipped when taking a nostalgic tour of Bangkok.
After lunch at a local restaurant, we continue to visit Wat Rajbophit to see the beautiful temple hall decorated with Benjarong wares. This style of ceramics continues to play an important part in preserving arts and culture in houses and establishments around Thailand. Our last stop is made at the Suan Pakkad Palace Museum, the former private residence of the Royal Highness Prince and Princess Chumbhot of Nagara Svarga, to see their collection of antiquities.
Your guide and driver for the day will bring you back to your hotel at around 3pm.
